Solid Waste Services in Charlotte will not be collecting trash, recycling, yard waste, or bulk items on Monday. Officials say Christmas tree collection will begin Monday, December 27th. In general, grocery stores will close early on Christmas Eve and be closed on Christmas Day. If you need to buy food on Christmas Day, your best bet will be a convenience store or a drugstore. Most stores are open on New Year’s Day, but some with modified hours. Make sure to have your bins on the curb by then. While I’ve never seen the movie “Confessions of a Shopaholic,” I truly believe that I probably have a lot in common with the main character in the film.
It will be an orange recycling collection week. Recyclables are collected every other week on the same day as garbage and yard waste collection. Residents should place their collection materials curbside on their scheduled day of collection. It will be a green recycling collection week. Citizens of the Town of Huntersville who live in a single family house are provided with curbside solid waste services. The Town contracts its garbage collection, yard trimmings and recycling services to a private contractor, Waste Connections of the Carolinas. Solid Waste Services will not collect garbage, recycling, yard or scheduled bulk waste on Monday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth. Solid Waste Services will operate on a one-day delay following the holiday, with Friday customers receiving service on Saturday, June 24.

In Concord, no yard waste or loose leaf collection services will be provided on Monday. Real Christmas trees can be placed curbside with other yard waste items, but officials remind residents that artificial trees must be scheduled for bulk item collection.

Concord crews will begin Monday and work through each day’s route to catch up, with the goal of all yard waste being collected by Friday, January 21st. Large green rollout containers are used for both regular household trash and recycling. Recycling containers are marked with a sticker of acceptable recyclable materials on the lid. Mecklenburg County residents ALL follow the same guidelines on what can and cannot be recycled at your home. While the County does NOT COLLECT your materials, the County does PROCESS them at our Materials Recovery Facility.
